Terms of Use
Last updated September 9, 2026
These terms govern the use of the website tierpile.com (the “Service”). By signing in or by using the Service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
1. Definitions
- “Service” — the website tierpile.com together with all its pages and interfaces.
- “Operator” — the person who runs the Service and can be reached at the address in section 10.
- “User” — a person using the Service, whether signed in or not.
- “Rating” — a game placed by a User into a tier from S to F.
- “Tier list” — a set of a User’s Ratings shown as one page.
- “Global ranking” — the aggregate score of a game computed from the Ratings of all Users.
2. Signing in and accounts
Signing in happens through Steam. The Service has no separate registration and no password of its own: it receives from Steam a confirmation of who you are, your public profile and your list of games.
One Steam account corresponds to one account on the Service. The User is responsible for keeping control of their Steam account: a sign-in confirmed by Steam counts as a sign-in by the User.
The Service is not intended for anyone too young to hold a Steam account under Valve’s own rules.
3. What is not allowed
The Service exists to collect honest ratings. Accordingly, the User must not:
- inflate or otherwise manipulate the global ranking, including through several accounts or by any automated means;
- submit ratings for games the User does not own, or attempt to bypass the checks that prevent it;
- collect data from the Service in bulk by automated means, or create load that interferes with its operation;
- attempt to reach other Users’ data or the internal parts of the Service;
- use the Service to publish unlawful content, including in the titles of tier lists.
4. User content
Ratings and tier lists created by a User are that User’s content. By creating them the User grants the Operator the right to store them, to display them on the Service and to include them in the global ranking in aggregated form, for as long as the account exists.
A tier list marked public is visible to anyone, including search engines, together with the Steam nickname and avatar of its author. A rating’s contribution to the global ranking is anonymous: a game page shows how many people rated it and how the ratings are spread, not who rated it.
The User may change or remove their ratings at any time. A removed rating stops counting towards the global ranking.
5. Steam data and third-party rights
Game titles, cover art, descriptions, genres, release dates and review summaries come from Steam and belong to their respective owners. They are shown for reference, and the Service claims no rights to them.
The Service is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Valve Corporation. Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation.
If you hold rights to material shown here and want it removed, write to the address in section 10.
6. Availability and no warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. It is a small personal project: outages, downtime for maintenance, loss of recently submitted data and changes to how features work are all possible without notice.
The data shown comes from third-party sources and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. The global ranking is an opinion poll of the people who happened to use this site, not a measurement.
The Operator does not warrant that the Service will be available or error-free, or that data stored in it will be preserved.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for any damage arising from use of the Service or from being unable to use it — including loss of data, loss of the work put into ranking games, or decisions made on the basis of the ratings shown here.
The Service is free of charge, and nothing in these terms creates an obligation to provide support, to keep any particular feature, or to restore lost data.
8. Suspension and termination
The Operator may restrict or terminate access to the Service, and may remove ratings or tier lists, where there are grounds to believe these terms have been breached — in particular where the global ranking is being manipulated.
The User may stop using the Service at any time and may ask for their account and data to be deleted, as described in the Privacy notice.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms change as the Service changes. The current version always lives at this address, and the date of the last change is shown at the top of this page.
Continuing to use the Service after a change means the new version is accepted. Changes do not apply retroactively to disputes that arose earlier.
